Sultan Ahmed and his boys don't have much exposure to international cricket and the ICC World Twenty20 should be a good learning experience for them.

Oman, who are in group A, will have to compete against Bangladesh, Ireland and the Netherlands for a slot in the Super 10 stage, where one of the four teams will join Australia, India, New Zealand and Pakistan in Group 2.

Sunil Joshi, the former India all-rounder, has joined the team’s staff as the spin-bowling coach and he can tell them a thing or two about the behaviour of Indian pitches and how they need to acclimatize to the conditions.

In the Asia Cup qualifying stage, barring the third match which they lost by 71 runs, Oman performed reasonably well in the first two matches which they lost by 3 runs and 3 wickets respectively.

The team relies a lot on opener Zeeshan Siddiqui, whose unbeaten 51-run knock off 32 in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier against Namibia had helped the side book its spot for the mega World T20 event.

Even in Asia Cup, Siddiqui scored 17, 52 and 46 runs respectively as a result of which Oman could put up some fight against Hong Kong, Afghanistan and UAE.

They will now be up against opponents, who are far more superior and it remains to be seen how will they cope up with the pressure.
