BCCI defends Rahul Sharma

BCCI president N Srinivasan on Wednesday backed the rookie spinner Rahul Sharma who was tested positive for drugs in a rave party in Mumbai during the fifth IPL stating that the tests were not conducted under WADA regulation and hence he does not think Sharma has breached anything.

New Delhi: BCCI president N Srinivasan on Wednesday backed the rookie spinner Rahul Sharma who was tested positive for drugs in a rave party in Mumbai during the fifth IPL stating that the tests were not conducted under WADA regulation and hence he does not think Sharma has breached anything.
Talking to media persons he said “He was not tested while in competition and not under WADA regulations. I do not think he has breached anything.” Earlier, Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla had said the BCCI will study the police report before taking any action against Rahul Sharma after Mumbai Police had confirmed that Rahul along with South African cricketer Wayne Parnell, who were arrested at a rave party in Juhu (Mumbai) on May 20, tested positive for drugs. Rahul, who is travelling with the Indian team in Sri Lanka was also left out of the playing XI for the first ODI against Sri Lanka at Hambantota.
