Johannesburg: South African cricketer Dale Steyn is ranked among the top three fast bowlers of the last four or five decades, according to his Indian Premier League (IPL) coach Waqar Younis.
The pair work together at new IPL franchise, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are riding high in third place in the tournament this season, significantly aided by the bowling prowess of Steyn.
According to Younis, even though there have been great bowlers in the last four-five decades like Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, Dennis Lillee, Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram, Steyn is definitely in the top three for him.
Admitting that he is a big fan of Steyn, the Pakistani legend has said that he has awarded the Proteas spearhead with the high ranking as Steyn is admired by the entire cricketing world for the way he plays, adding that the player`s bowling ability, coupled with his attitude towards coaches and youngsters are the reasons behind his success.
Younis further said that Steyn will soon rise to the top of the ranks if he continues his form for the next two or three seasons of the IPL, adding that not many bowlers have his fitness and have swung the ball at his pace.
