New Delhi: Pune Warriors skipper Sourav Ganguly may have to use a bat without sponsor`s sticker when his team plays against Kings XI Punjab in an away match at Mohali on Thursday.
The problem has been that the sponsor of Ganguly`s bat is not a registered bat sponsor with the International Cricket Council.
On Tuesday, Ganguly pleaded guilty to a Level 1 offence (Article 2.1.1) as per IPL`s Code of Conduct as a breach of the Clothing Regulations.
"The players can only use those bat stickers which are registered with the ICC. For example, although Hero Honda or MRF do not manufacture bats but they are registered sponsors under ICC and players are free to use their stickers. Apollo Munich is still not registered and till it is done, Ganguly can`t use the sticker on his bat," an IPL official said on Wednesday.
The Pune Warriors management are trying to get in touch with the ICC in order to register the name of the company so that the former India captain can use his sponsor`s sticker on the bats.
Ganguly has very recently been contracted with the Apollo Munich Group as their brand ambassador.
