New Delhi: Delhi Daredevils captain Kevin Pietersen was on Tuesday slapped with a fine of Rs 12 lakh for maintaining slow over rate during his side`s IPL game against Kings XI Punjab here.
"Delhi Daredevils captain Kevin Pietersen has been fined after the team maintained a slow over rate during last evening`s Pepsi IPL match against Kings XI Punjab in Delhi.
"Since it was his first offence of the season under the IPL?s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Pietersen was fined Rs 12 lakh," the IPL said in a statement.
Delhi Daredevils suffered their seventh consecutive loss this IPL season as they went down to table-toppers Kings XI Punjab by four wickets in their last game at Feroze Shah Kotla on Monday.
Chasing 165 for victory, Punjab rode on a breezy 67-run opening stand between Virender Sehwag (23) and Manan Vohra (42 off 19 balls) to overhaul the target in 19.4 overs.
