Mumbai, July 07: Once dubbed as archrivals, industry’s two bigwigs Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan seem to have put their feisty, childish rivalries behind to embrace a new bond of friendship. And taking a lead here like everywhere else is Akshay Kumar who has extended an olive branch to King Khan by inviting him to one of his famous grand film success celebrations. Looking forward to end the animosity with Shah Rukh, Akki sent him personal party invite, hosted to rejoice the good opening that his film ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ enjoyed at the Box Office. The party was jointly hosted by Kareena and was to celebrate not only his success of his film but also Katrina’s ‘New York’.
Confirming the news, Akshay told a news daily, “Yes, I did call up Shah Rukh to invite him. On Sunday evening, when Kareena and I suddenly decided to have a party, we decided to invite the entire industry. This wasn’t a party to celebrate our success alone. It was also a party to celebrate the success of ‘New York’ as much as my film. So apart from me and Kareena, Katrina (Kaif), John (Abraham) and the entire team of ‘New York’ were the party’s unofficial hosts.”
But sadly, Shah Rukh could not attend the big bash, as he is occupied with the shoot of his film ‘My Name Is Khan’ in UK.
But what made Akshay invite Shah Rukh? The actor clarified that he doesn’t believe in ‘negativity’ and wants to share his success with his colleagues. “I want them to celebrate any success and not be happy when other’s films fail. When ‘New York’ released, text messages against the film were sent out. The same thing is happening with my film. Why be negative? Especially when I’ve always been happy for all my colleagues’ successes? So yes, I personally called up Shah Rukh and all my colleagues to invite them to the party. But since he’s shooting in San Francisco, he won’t be here. I am sure there will be plenty more occasions”, said Akshay.
Well, looks like one long drawn battle has come to an end at last!
