MCA finalises ticket rates for World Cup ties

The Mumbai Cricket Association, which is playing host to three matches in the 2011 World Cup including the final at its Wankhede Stadium, has decided to keep different ticket rates for the three ties.

At a recent meeting of MCA`s infrastructure sub-committee it was proposed to keep ticket rates from Rs 2200 to Rs 3500 for the first tie, according to MCA sources. "It was proposed that Rs 3500 be kept for tickets for the Divecha Pavilion, Rs 3000 for north stand, Rs 2500 for the Vijay Merchant stand and Rs 2200 for the popular Sunil Gavaskar stand for the New Zealand-Canada match (on March 13, 2011)," the sources said. "These rates are proposed to be doubled for the next match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka (on March 18)," they said. Though the rates of tickets for the final, on April 2, have not been finalised, they would be in the range of Rs 8000 to Rs 15000, the sources indicated. "All these are only proposals and will have to get the approval of the managing committee which is expected to meet at the end of the month," they added.The rates of tickets for all the February 19-April 2 World Cup ties have to be forwarded to the International Cricket Council before they are up for sale online from June 1.The World Cup Central Organising Committee is to meet on June 1, according to Cricket Board sources.
