London: Two Welsh cricketers had reportedly walked off the pitch during a cricket match between two Welsh villages after they were asked to speak in English at the crease.
Batsmen Rhydian Wyn and Dyfed Sion decided not to play as they felt offended when they were asked not to use Welsh as the opponent team cannot understand the language. The match was between two teams from the Welsh villages of Crymych and Lamphey in Pembrokeshire, with Crymych Cricket Club based in a Welsh-speaking area while Lamphey is mainly English-speaking. The batsmen decided not to play as they felt offended when they were asked not to use Welsh. League secretary Steve Blowes said that the matter would be looked into but it would be inappropriate to comment at this stage. ANI
