Tila Tequila wants Obama to allow gays to openly serve in military

Singapore-born singer/model Tila Tequila has in an open letter to US President Barack Obama urged him to allow gays to openly serve in the military.

New York, July 03: Singapore-born singer/model Tila Tequila has in an open letter to US President Barack Obama urged him to allow gays to openly serve in the military. Tequila, 27, in a blog at globalgrind.com, tells the story of Dan Choi, “a hero to many of us in the human rights movement” who was booted from the Army after publicly announcing he’s gay.
The MTV hookup star now wants Obama to repeal the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on gays.
“Being an openly bisexual woman myself and having a lot of close gay friends, I have always HATED that policy,” the New York Daily News quoted her as writing. “We are here, we are queer, and it’s about time that the military gets used to it!!! Discrimination is so 2000,” she wrote. Former President Bill Clinton had instituted the bill in a compromise over his position on gays in the military that satisfied few on either side of the issue.
