London: Veteran Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has claimed eight years without winning the FA Cup is far too long for club of such enormous stature.
Giggs admitted he is lucky because he has four wins to his name, but only two other team-mates have savoured a Cup triumph, Paul Scholes and Robin van Persie, who won it with Arsenal.
Now, on the eve of the fifth-round clash with Reading at Old Trafford on Monday, Giggs said it is time to put matters right.
Giggs claimed they haven`t had a good record the last few seasons in the FA Cup, and it`s a shame for players like Rio Ferdinand and the others because the tournament still has that magic.
Giggs added therefore, there is real determination to win the trophy this year, adding they have a great history in the competition but in the last 10 years they definitely haven`t done themselves justice.
The wing wizard said they have had tough draws but probably they haven`t produced at the right time either, adding everyone is keen to get back to Wembley this season, and not just in the Champions League final.
Giggs added it would be difficult because there are a lot of good teams still left in it, adding he is aware it is a brilliant trophy if you can go all the way.
Giggs said the team definitely wants to stay in it as long as possible this time, adding they don`t want a weekend when the FA Cup is on and they are not playing.
