Barcelona: Uruguay forward Luis Suarez said he fulfilled his dream by striking a deal with FC Barcelona for five years for 81 million euros, making him the fourth most expensive player in history.
"It is with a heavy heart that I leave Liverpool for a new life and new challenges in Spain. Both I and my family have fallen in love with this club and with the city. I hope you can all understand why I have made this decision. This club did all they could to get me to stay," the striker said in a statement, reports Efe.
The 27-year-old said "playing and living in Spain is a lifelong dream and ambition. I believe now the timing is right".
Suarez is Barcelona`s fourth signing for the 2014-15 season after German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Croatia`s Ivan Rakitic and Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
Suarez ended the last season as Premier League`s top scorer with 31. He won the Premier League Golden Boot and shared the European Golden Shoe with Cristiano Ronaldo.
