Man U’s teen sensation Macheda may make Italy U-21 debut

Manchester: Manchester United striker Federico Macheda may earn his first cap as an Italy Under-21 international this month.The Azzurrini have upcoming matches against Russia (August 12), Denmark (September 4) and Luxembourg (September 8), and the 17-year-old is set to be included in the squad along with Lazio left-back Lorenzo Di Silvestri.

Macheda was included in Casiraghi`s preliminary list of 40 players for the European Championships in June but was dropped once the coach had to name his final 23-man squad. Other key players set to be included are Inter starlet Mario Balotelli, Milan`s Davide Di Gennaro, Parma hitman Alberto Paloschi and Sampdoria shot stopper Vincenzo Fiorillo. The likes of playmakers Sebastian Giovinco and Luca Cigarini are no longer eligible for the squad`s next major championship and have been dropped.
