Pune draws with Arrows in IFA Shield

Kolkata: On a day of setbacks, Pune FC were held by minnows Pailan Arrows, while Southern Samity stunned I-League side United Kerala in the 116th IFA Shield fixtures on Sunday.

In a group C preliminary match at the East Bengal ground, Holicharan Narzary gave Arrows a 16th-minute lead to put pressure in the Pune camp early into the start.

The visitors got the equaliser when Subhas Singh was brought down inside the box.

Pune FC`s Liberian recruit converted from the spot to hold an impressive Arrows.

In a group B match at the Howrah Stadium, Southern Samity struck through a first-half goal from Sovon Chakrabarty to beat United Kerala 1-0.
