London: Andre Villas-Boas has slammed Manchester United over taunts that Chelsea are too old to win the Premier League.
The Chelsea manager expressed his disappointment at remarks by United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen.
Meulensteen had said: "Their squad is too old and their tempo is not high enough to win the Premier League. Also, Chelsea have made just one major signing in Juan Mata."
However, Villas-Boas disagreed with his rival’s statement.
"I find it strange he would say something like this when we have all seen the importance of players like Ryan Giggs, Edwin van der Sar and Paul Scholes to Manchester United.
Only this week Giggs was scoring in the Champions League and being praised by everyone. What`s the difference between that and some of the players we have?" a leading daily quoted Villas-Boas, as saying.
The two unbeaten sides are scheduled to meet on Sunday for the match.
