London: West Ham United has defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in their Capital One Cup clash at White Hart Lane on Wednesday, which was Tottenham`s second successive home defeat.

The victory led West Ham to book a Capital One Cup semi-final tie with Manchester City.

According to the BBC, although Spurs took the lead in the second half following their player Emmanuel Adebayor`s goal in the 67th minute, however, West Ham levelled with Matt Jarvis smashing home in the 80th minute, after which Modibo Maiga `s late goal saw the visitors to a rousing victory.

The report mentioned that Spurs was left to contemplate another defeat soon after Sunday`s 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool, which led to the sacking of manager Andre-Villas Boas, who has been replaced by Tim Sherwood until a new permanent manager is found.
