Ireland's Katie Tayor has won the Women's Light (60kg) gold defeating Sofya Ochigava of Russia. Nicola Adams of Great Britain becomes the first women’s boxing gold medalist (51kg) in Olympics. She defeated Cancanren of China 16-7. Geeta Phogat in Bronze medal contention India's Geeta Phogat will now contest in repechage round where she has to overcome two opponents to lay her hand on bronze medal. Women’s football Canada have won the bronze medal after a stoppage-time goal gave them a 1-0 victory over France. Geeta loses opening bout Geeta Phogat of India lost in the 55kg class wrestling bout to Verbeek Tonya Lynn of Canada.
