Born: 24 April, 1988 (24 years) Height: 5’7” Katulu Ravi Kumar is an Indian weightlifter from Orissa who won the gold medal in 2010 Commonwealth Games. Ravi, a former bodybuilder, began weightlifting only three years before participating in the CWG in Delhi where he won the 69kg class with a new record. The performance helped him improve upon three Games records and also the senior National marks. He lifted 146 kg in snatch and 175 in clean and jerk for a record total of 321. He bagged three bronze medals in the Senior Weightlifting Championship at Tongling, China in 2011. He was selected to represent India at the London Games by the IWF after Indian weightlifters had earned two quota places for the Olympics. For his sporting achievements he was conferred with the Arjuna Award in 2011.
