Mexico has best Olympics in over 40 years

The Mexican contingent for London Olympics ensured the country`s best performance at the Summer Games in over 40 years, winning seven medals, including one gold, three silver and as many bronze.

London: The Mexican contingent for London Olympics ensured the country`s best performance at the Summer Games in over 40 years, winning seven medals, including one gold, three silver and as many bronze.
It is the second best Olympics for Mexico, only surpassed by the 1968 edition, where it won three gold, three silver and three bronze medals as the host, Xinhua reports. Aida Roman won a silver medal and Mariana Avitia a bronze in the women`s archery event, while Laura Sanchez won bronze medal in the 3m trampoline. In women`s synchronized diving 10-metre platform, Paola Espinosa/Alejandra Orozco won the silver medal, while Maria del Rosario Espinoza took a bronze in women`s 67kg taekwondo. Mexican men won two medals, and one of them was the football gold. The other is in synchronized diving 10-metre platform by Ivan Garcia and German Sanchez. IANS
