London: Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has lashed out at Red Bull for giving preferential treatment to defending world champion Sebastian Vettel over Mark Webber, saying that Red Bull`s pandering to Vettel has caused problems within the team.
Vettel disobeyed orders from his team and passed ahead of Webber to claim victory in Sunday`s Malaysian GP.
According to the Mercedes ace, the decision to continually give the German priority status over team-mate Webber was at the heart of the troubles of Red Bull.
Meanwhile, Hamilton angrily dismissed suggestions by Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko that he was head of the pecking order at the Brackley-based team, saying that he is meted out the same treatment as given to his team-mate Nico Rosberg at Mercedes unlike Red Bull, where Vettel is clearly the favourite.
Hamilton, who earned his first trophy for Mercedes because boss Ross Brawn told teammate Nico Rosberg to hold station in fourth, said that he is not a driver that comes and requests to be given preferential treatment unlike Vettel.
As Vettel faced a post-mortem of his team betrayal in the Malaysia GP, Hamilton further said that he does not feel that he has won his spot fair and square even though he had driven a decent race.
