BAI brushes aside IBL clash of dates with Super Series event
Badminton Association of India is not too concerned with the dates of Denmark Super Series event clashing with the latter part of the 2nd edition of Indian Badminton League.
Mumbai: Badminton Association of India is not too concerned with the dates of Denmark Super Series event clashing with the latter part of the 2nd edition of Indian Badminton League.
"The dates of IBL have been fixed after giving due consideration to all events. It`s not a big concern and we can even bring the dates of IBL forward by a day or two if needed," a top BAI source told PTI today.
The source was reacting to a news report that the major shuttlers of the world, including India`s top woman players Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu, may not be available for the entire duration of IBL which is scheduled from September 30-October 15.
The Denmark Open Super Series tournament is scheduled from October 14-19.
The source also said that the first couple of days of the Super Series event would normally be for conducting the qualifying rounds.
"The world`s top players normally reach the venue of these tournaments only two days ahead of their matches," the BAI source explained.
IBL would be played in six Indian cities -- Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore. Last year it was held in August.
