India open account with four bronze in Asian Jr Weightlifting

India bagged four bronze medals with Sanjita Chanu winning three of them in women`s 48kg category.

New Delhi: India bagged four bronze medals with Sanjita Chanu winning three of them in women`s 48kg category on the opening day of 18th Asian Junior Weightlifting Championships at Pattaya in Thailand on Friday.
Sanjita won a bronze each in snatch, clean and jerk and total with lifts of 71kg, 90kg and 161kg respectively. Togoeva Mahliyo of Uzbekistan won gold in clean and jerk and total lift with efforts of 96kg and 169kg respectively. Another Uzbek, Takio Yana bagged the gold in snatch with a lift of 74kg. Yukar Sibi added another bronze for India in men`s 62kg category section in clean and jerk by lifting 151kg. He lifted 115kg in snatch and finished fourth in total with 264kg. Huang Minhao of China won three gold with lifts of 135kg, 155kg and 290kg in snatch, clean and jerk and total. India are being represented by 15 lifters, including seven women, in the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championships. It had won nine silver medals in the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championship which preceded the junior event. PTI
