Congress leader Amarinder Singh on Sunday lashed out at SAD-BJP government in Punjab for increasing the tax on diesel prices, saying it will put an additional burden on farmers who were in need of relief in the wake of "scanty" rains.
The government on Saturday cut the petrol price by Rs 1.82 per litre. Meanwhile it is also learnt that the retail diesel price has been hiked by Re 0.50 a litre. The new prices of the fuels will come into effect from today midnight.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday criticised the Centre for raising diesel price, saying the party had promised to people to reduce the diesel price before the Lok Sabha elections.
Opening front against the newly- formed NDA government at the Centre for hike in diesel prices, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said people of the country will see "more such things" in the coming days.
