The CISF Head Constable who allegedly shot dead three of his colleagues and injured two in their camp at Kalpakkam was in a depressed state of mind and also homesick, a senior police official said on Thursday.
India`s first indigenously-designed and built reactor for a submarine - INS Arihant - is functioning well but will be shut down sometime later to study reports of its functioning, top atomic energy establishment officials said.
The Indian atomic energy establishment is mulling the option of going in for a higher capacity reactor powered by metallic fuel at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) complex at Kalpakkam.
India`s first 500-MW prototype fast breeder reactor (PFBR), being set up at Kalpakkam near here, is likely to go critical early next year and commercial generation of electricity is expected in March 2015.
Scientists from Indira Gandhi Centre
for Atomic Research (IGCAR) have finalised the design features
of the commercial Fast Breeder Reactors (FBR) which are to be
constructed at Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu, a top scientist said.
The atomic reactor, the heart
of India`s first indigenously built nuclear submarine `INS Arihant` launched recently, is a prototype of a land-based
reactor tested successfully for the past three years.
