Yogi Adityanath wants strict action against cow vigilantes, moral policing brigade in UP

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has now asked the state authorities to tackle cow vigilantes with an iron hand.

Lucknow: After taking a slew of measures which includes banning illegal slaughter houses and starting 'anti-Romeo squads', Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has now asked the state authorities to tackle cow vigilantes and the moral policing brigade with an iron hand.

The instructions from UP Chief Minister's office came days after three meat shops were allegedly vandalised by unknown persons in Hathras district of the state.

Taking the matter seriously, the saint-politician had directed the state officials to take cow vigilantes and moral policing brigade seriously.

The firebrand BJP leader also expressed concerns over multiple reports of moral policing where young boys and girls in friendly conversations were allegedly harassed by anti-Romeo squads of the police.

Expressing his displeasure over such incidents, CM Yogi Adityanath had warned the officials of stringent action if such cases were not contained.

The CM is understood to have passed these instructions during a meeting of top officials, including Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar, Principal Secretary (home) Debashish Panda and DGP Javeed Ahmed, reported The Times of India.

The CM also directed the DGP to ensure that incidents of arson were not repeated in the name of checking illegal slaughter.
