As the North Indian states are reeling under devastating flood, River Rapti in Uttar Pradesh is flowing in 'High flood situation' on Wednesday.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's River Rapti is flowing in 'High flood situation', reported news agency ANI on Wednesday.

River Rapti is located at Bansi in Sidharthnagar district. 

Most North Indian states are have been hit by devastating floods over the last two months. The situation remained grim in UP with the death toll mounting to 72 on Monday. Affected people are being rescued and shifted to safer areas.

Nearly 43,602 people have taken shelter in relief camps in the affected districts of eastern UP, whipped by the raging waters of the rivers emanating from Nepal.

Twenty-one NDRF teams, 30 PAC (flood) teams, two choppers of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and several Army jawans continued relief and rescue operations round-the-clock in the flood-affected districts of the state. 

The release of water in the rivers originating from Nepal and incessant rains have hampered rescue work and evacuation people.

According to a Central Water Commission report, the river was flowing well above the red mark at Rigauli and Birdghat (Gorakhpur). Its tributaries were also flowing above the danger level.
