Sultanpur: An Uttar Pradesh-based man working in Saudi Arabia allegedly divorced his wife, giving her triple talaq notice through SMS.
The man, who belongs from Nandauli village in UP's Sultanpur district, has been married to the victim - Ruby - for two years. The couple has a son.
Alledging harassment, the victim claimed that her in-laws have been demanding dowry for some time.
“My in-laws used to harass me demanding for a vehicle. My husband ill-treated me as well. I received a message from him, where he gave me divorce,” said the victim.
The victim's father has not registered a police complaint, claiming that the divorce process is complete.
“Things were fine for two years. Then they started harassing her. Her in-laws threw her out of the house later. Then one day her husband gave her divorce through SMS. We haven't informed police. For us the divorce process is complete,” he said.
