Lucknow: Hitting out at his predecessor Akhilesh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said his government will fulfill the promises made to the people of the state unlike the previous dispensation's false assurances.

"The government is making continuous efforts in this direction and people of the state have also shown their faith. With such a huge mandate people too have huge expectations and we will fulfill them," he said at an event.

Akhilesh was also present at the event and spoke before Adityanath.

"The BJP always said that five chief ministers used to run the SP govt, but now there are 5 CMs who are running the current government in the state. Also people are still waiting for Rs 15 lakh to be deposited in their bank accounts; let's hope they get it soon," he said.

In his reply Adityanath said, "Yes, we have made promises to the people of Uttar Pradesh and we will fulfill them."

He also said that there is no Opposition left in the state and the Samajwadi Party is busy with its internal fight, and the BSP is almost finished.

"When we talk about women empowerment it should be of any religion. We all should raise our concerns against issues like triple talaq," he said.

On the burning issue of cow vigilantism, Adityanath said that no one is above law and strict action will be taken against those who take law in their hands.

"If there is cattle smuggling, people should report it to the local police. No one has the right to take law in their hands. Not all gau rakshaks are bad, only a few are doing wrong things to defame the entire community," he said.

Also present on the occasion were deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma along with Health Minister Sidharth Nath Singh and Power Minister Shrikant Sharma.
