Lucknow: Following the regime change in Uttar Pradesh, pictures and memorabilia containing photographs of Samajwadi Party mentor Mulayam Singh Yadav and former CM Akhilesh Yadav are being removed from government offices and thrown in dustbins.

With BJP-led state government issuing instructions, several calendars and publicity material containing images of Akhilesh can be seen dumped in dustbins of government offices.

As per India Today, in the office of the district magistrate, a calendar outlining Akhilesh government's developmental works was thrown in the dustbin.

Reacting to the developments, Samajwadi Party city president Raisuddin was quoted as saying by the media house that the way government officials were removing all stationery and other publicity material containing images of Akhilesh was objectionable.

The UP government has also ordered four crore ration cards that had Akhilesh's image printed on the front page to be scrapped.

To be noted is the fact that Akhilesh government in the past had got pictures of SP leaders printed on publicity materials and had also named welfare schemes of government as 'Samajwadi'.

The BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi won a landslide victory in the Hindi heartland on March 11 winning 325 seats along with its allies.

Yogi Adityanath took over as the CM of UP a week later along with two deputy CMs.
