GJM chief Bimal Gurung threatens to revive Gorkaland movement, accuses TMC of diluting real issues

Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung, who was chastised by Mamata Banerjee recently for pursuing divisive politics in the Darjeeling hills, today hit back, saying the TMC was trying to 'dilute' real issues affecting the hills and threatened to revive Gorkhaland movement.

Darjeeling: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung, who was chastised by Mamata Banerjee recently for pursuing divisive politics in the Darjeeling hills, today hit back, saying the TMC was trying to 'dilute' real issues affecting the hills and threatened to revive Gorkhaland movement.

"The TMC is trying to dilute the real issue of our identity by trying to bribe us through various doles," Gurung said.

"In the next few days the Gorkhaland movement will start. The people of the hills are still with the GJM. We are unitedly fighting for Gorkhaland," he said.

Banerjee, who is presently on a visit to the hills, has accused the GJM of doing divisive politics in the hills and questioned the performance of the GJM-ruled GTA.

She said that the money sent by the state government had been misused by the GTA controlled by the GJM..

In the recent municipal election in the hild lost the civic body in Mirik, to TMC. The party had however won in Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong.
