Only 25% Americans believe Donald Trump keeps his promises: Opinion poll

New Delhi: An opinion poll conducted by TIME-SurveyMonkey has found that just 25 percent of adult Americans believe US president Donald Trump has kept his promises.

The April 24 poll also showed that though only a few accept he is keeping his promises, a majority of his supporters believe he is following through his campaign pledges.

The survey was conducted to find out the views of his supporters as he nears 100th day in office, the opposingviews.com reported.

Citing the survey data, the report said that there has been a drop by six points in the perception of the president being a man of his word.

Another opinion poll on Trump conducted in February had showed that 31 percent of the respondents had thought that Trump kept his promises.

Also, 47 percent of the respondents said Trump was competent while 49 percent believed he “tilted more towards incompetence”.

While 47 percent of respondents approved of Trump, 52 percent disapproved, according to the survey.

The survey also revealed that three percent of “self-identified Trump” voters regretted voting in his favour.

On April 29, Donald Trump will complete 100th day in office.

The tradition of judging a president in the United States has been continued since the era of president Franklin D. Roosevelt.

However, Trump has criticised this tradition, saying that it's an “arbitrary metric”.

"I think the 100 days is, you know, it's an artificial barrier," Trump was quoted as saying.

He added: "It's not very meaningful."
