Speaking to reporters after visiting Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, the Health Minister said, “To make sure there isn't a Covid surge in the country, PM Narendra Modi has asked us to be careful. The government is also preparing if the covid cases increase. Today mock drills are conducted across covid hospitals in the country to make sure people get proper treatment.”
China to reopen borders from next month: These announcements come at a time when the country is grappling with a sudden spurt in coronavirus infections fuelled by the Omicron variants after the Xi Jinping regime relaxed its stringent zero-Covid policy earlier this month following a wave of anti-government protests. China will cancel inbound quarantine for international arrivals starting from January 8, 2023, the National Health Commission said on Monday.
IMA Issues New Covid Advisory: The IMA also advised people to avoid public gatherings like marriages, political or social meetings, and international travel if possible. It further appealed to the people to consult doctors in case of any symptoms like fever, sore throat, cough, loose motions etc, and getting Covid vaccination including precaution dose at the earliest.
In a strongly-worded editorial in Saamana, Shiv Sena said that “the fear of rise in Covid cases due to the rush of the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ is right. But three years ago, when Corona wreaked havoc, you were the one who invited the then US President Trump to Gujarat and gathered lakhs of people in his honour.”
India gears up to tackle the Covid challenge: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the country and directed officials to be alert and strengthen surveillance. Acting on the Centre’s direction, several Indian states have stepped up measures to contain the spread of the virus.
