Family pension of PSB bankers hiked to 30% of last salary!

The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) had urged the government to increase the family pension of deceased employees. The Central government has also increased the contribution limit for PSB employees under the National Pension Scheme (NPS). Employees of the public sector banks can now invest up to 14% of their salary, up from the previous limit of 10%.

The new rules under the Department of Pension & Pensioners Welfare (DoP&PW) will bring relief for employees who are suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Rules 80 (A) of the CCS (Pension) Rule 1972, after a government employee dies doing his/her duty, the Provisional Family Pension will be sanctioned to his/her family members. The DoPPW has issued a clarification on the amount admissible in case a child is eligible to draw two family pensions after the death of his or her parents. Singh said that the amount of both the family pensions will now be restricted to Rs 1,25,000 per month, which is more than two and half times higher than the earlier limit.
