Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who has been in the industry for a long time now, had to face the wrath of the residents of his housing society when he tried to prevent water wastage during Holi celebrations yesterday. In an attempt to stop water wastage by the residents of Versova in Mumbai, Amrapurkar informed a local TV channel about the ‘rain dance’ at Panchavati building in his neighbourhood and requested the channel to shoot the happening to keep a record of the malpractice. "They were wasting water and were drunk. This had been going on since 10 in the morning. When I tried to stop them, they started abusing me. Even girls were there. They were doing all this in the middle of the society," the actor said. But things went awry when the residents ‘enjoying’ the rain dance took objection to the shoot and “thrashed the cameraperson and stole the video.” Even Amrapurkar, who was present at the venue, was pushed and threatened. When the TV crew came, "these people tried to take their cameras and other stuff", said the 57-year-old. Amprapurkar has lodged a complaint with the Versova police station and said: "I have already filed a police case against them." He wants to take up the matter with the secretary of his society and other societies to formulate a set of regulations. Amrapurkar was seen in films like ‘Sadak’, ‘Mohra’, ‘Ishq’ and ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. (With IANS inputs)
