Gujarati actor Upendra Trivedi passes away, PM Modi condoles death
Gujarat's one of the most renowned actors of stage and cinema, Upendra Trivedi, also known as `Abhinay Samrat', has passed away in Mumbai after a brief illness at the age of 79.

New Delhi: One of the most renowned Gujarati actors of stage and cinema, Upendra Trivedi, also known as `Abhinay Samrat', passed away in Mumbai after a brief illness at the age of 79.
Upendra who is known for his brilliant performance in the Gujarati play `Abhinay Samrat` is the brother of Arvind Trivedi who essayed the role of Ravana in the TV series `Mahabharata`.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was deeply saddened by the news and has condoled Upendra's death on Twitter.
He wrote, ``An inspiring personality who won hearts both on & off the screen. Sad to hear about Shri Upendra Trivedi's demise`` (sic.)
Upendra has directed National Award winning Gujarati film `Manvini Bhawai` and is also the recipient of Padmashree and Pandit Omkarnath Thakur award.
He was also an active member in the Gujarat political arena and has contested the Gujarat legislative assembly election from Bhiloda and won.
Upendra is said to represent the golden era of Gujarati cinema.
