Intolerance issue: This is not the India I grew up in, says Priyanka Chopra

New Delhi: Soon after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan said how his 'intolerance' remarks affected the Box Office collections of 'Dilwale', Priyanka Chopra in an interview with NDTV said that artists should not be put into trouble for sharing their opinions.

Referring to the 'intolerance debate' and how artists got into trouble for saying what they felt, PeeCee expressed her sadness over the politicization of all issues, including film releases and made plea to the audience that what celebrities say shouldn't affect their movies.

The interviewer referred to a post that the 'Bajirao Mastani' actor had written a few days ago in Twitter and asked what was going through her mind when she wrote that.

Priyanka said, “I would think twice before making a comment. Don't use actors as political pawns.”

She added, “This is not the India I grew up in.”

Coming in support of the artists who were back-lashed for their comments, she said, “I will stand by actors and artists. Please stop using actors as political pawns.”
