"To get a National Award for your first film is something that people dream about. People spend their whole life and win every award, but the National Award. With the award comes the responsibility as well," Kumar said.

The biopic on boxer M.C. Mary Kom won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The director was honoured at 62nd National Film Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan here on Sunday.

Kumar noted that with the Priyanka Chopra-starrer he wanted to tell an inspiring tale along with right amount of entertainment quotient.

"When we were making 'Mary Kom', we thought it should be serious cinema but with entertainment," he said.

Kumar said audience can expect more meaningful cinema from him.

"There are three films in the pipeline. Out of them, one is based on World War II. So one can expect more meaningful cinema," he said.
