New Delhi: Muscle cramps happens quite common to all of us and we tend to ignore it until they start bothering us frequently. But do you know the causes of the cramps? Well, one should know the triggers of muscle cramps beforehand so that you can prevent or deal with it correctly.
Here are some common reasons of muscle camps:
Dehydration might be one of the causes of muscle cramps as it cause loss of nutrients from the body. The lost of minerals and fluids in the body can trigger muscle cramps as the electrolyte balance is disturbed.
Even poor posture can cause trouble in some cases as it exerts pressure on a specific part of the body triggering muscle cramps. It is mainly due to lack of nutrient and oxygen supply to the body.
Frequent muscle cramps can be caused due to an interrupted blood flow or hypoxia. In order to prevent this situation, avoid tying up the area and apply a heat pack instead to improve blood flow.
Lack of potassium
Lack of potassium in the body causes changes in the electrolyte balance, thereby increasing the risk of developing muscle cramps. It is advisable to increase your intake of potassium-rich foods like bananas, dry fruits and leafy vegetables.
