Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comments in China and South Korea about Indians being ashamed of being born in India before BJP-led NDA government came to power last year resulted in #ModiInsultsIndia hashtag as one of Twitter’s top trends.
PM Modi was quoted as saying during an interaction with the Indian community in Shanghai that earlier people were ashamed of being born an Indian but now they felt proud to represent the country.
He said the same thing when he addressed a gathering of Indians in Seoul.
The comments by Modi generated massive response on Twitter with #ModiInsultsIndia garnering thousands of tweets.
There were many who criticised the Prime Minister for “insulting” his own country and some said that they were proud of India, no matter who the PM was.
