Srinagar: Cold wave on Monday tightened its grip
in Kashmir Valley with the minimum temperature in Srinagar
plummeting to the season's lowest.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.9
degrees Celsius, the coldest night in the city so far this
winter, a MeT official said.
Small stagnant water bodies and road potholes in the city
were covered with a layer of ice.
Residents in many parts of the city were seen burning
fire around frozen water supply lines.
Leh district in Ladakh region also recorded the season's
lowest temperature with mercury dipping to minimum minus 18.2
deg C. Kargil registered a low of minus 14.4 deg C.
Elsewhere, Gulmarg recorded minimum minus 8.4 deg C,
Pahalgam -7.4 deg C, Qazigund -5.6 deg C and Kupwara 4.5 deg
C.
