IAF chopper crash: J&K announces Rs 1 lakh for ITB

J&K government on Wednesday announced Rs 1 lakh to the next of kin of ITBP Sub Inspector Bhim Singh.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday announced Rs 1 lakh to the next of kin of ITBP Sub Inspector Bhim Singh, who along with 19 others was killed in an IAF chopper crash during rescue operations in flood-ravaged Uttrakhand last month. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sanctioned Rs 1 lakh for Singh, a resident of Bobiya village of Hiranagar in Kathua district of Jammu region, an official spokesman said. In his condolence message to the family of the deceased, Omar conveyed his sympathy and prayed for peace to the departed soul. Singh was on board the IAF rescue chopper which crashed in Kedarnath Ghati on June 25. PTI
