Jammu: A well-planned strategy has been chalked out to thwart militants` attempts to target security forces, Jammu and Kashmir police chief Ashok Prasad said here.
"We (security forces) have charted out a well-planned strategy to handle the situation," the DGP told reporters.
"In view of their changed strategy, militants have planned to target the security forces with an aim to disturb peace in the Valley," he said on the sidelines of a seminar on security last evening.
The DGP said police is aware of their plans to target security forces in the days to come.
He said Pakistan did not believe in the policy of accommodating but instead chose the path of aggression.
Prasad expressed reservation over the government`s democratic approach towards "hostile" Pakistan and stressed on the need for a re-look at the country`s strategy of being defensive and friendly.
He said India`s strategy of responding more in terms of dialogue has not given the degree of success as expected from Pakistan. It was promoting terrorism, armed infiltration and pumping fake currency for disturbances in the Valley.
Prasad said India`s democratic approach and responding in terms of dialogue needed to be reviewed for safeguarding its internal security.
Taking a dig at Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani`s recent statement on poll boycott, Prasad said "Had gun been the solution to resolve Kashmir, why for the past 23 years no solution has come out."
