Delhi: BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday said that attacks on BJP karyakartas in Kerala smacked of political vendetta.

He said, "Murder of Ramith, a BJP karyakarta, in Pinarayi village, Kannaur district, hometown of Kerala CM is disturbing. Chavassery Uttaman, Ramith's father was similarly killed in 2002, his mother suffered serious injures when his house was attacked recently."

"Attacks on BJP karyakartas in CM Pinarayi Vijayan's home constituency is a matter of grave concern and smacks of political vendetta," he added.

A 25-year-old BJP worker was hacked to death at Pinarayi here today, an incident which comes two days after the murder of CPI-M activist in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Prenith, police said, adding, the incident occurred at around 10.30 am near a petrol pump at Pinarayi.

Pinarayi is the home town of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Kannur has witnessed a series of attacks on political workers in the recent past.

A CPI(M) activist and toddy shop worker, Mohanan (40) was murdered by a six-member gang at Pathiriyad in the district two days back, with CPI(M) pointing fingers at RSS for the attack.
