Mancini tells Wenger to ‘stop moaning about City`s wealth’

Roberto Mancini has told Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to stop whining about Manchester City’s wealth.

London: Roberto Mancini has told Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to stop whining about Manchester City’s wealth in the wake of the Gunners’ boss constantly accusing the Eastlands club of financial doping following Sheikh Mansour’s takeover at the Etihad.
He was seen moaning again before the Gunners’ trip to Manchester, when he indicated that the champions are ‘short-circuiting’ new ‘Financial Fair Play’ regulations with so-called ‘mates rates’ sponsorship deals. But now, Mancini has hit back, telling the Frenchman that City are only playing catch-up with their rivals, adding that ‘it’s impossible to win the title without spending money’. “It is clear that we only have 11 players on the pitch like everyone else. Every team we play has some fantastic players, whether it is Arsenal or Chelsea, so I don’t understand why he (Wenger) should always only talk about money,” a leading daily quoted Mancini, as saying. “A lot of teams, like Arsenal in the past, have spent money on big players. This is normal. This is happening every time. All the managers just want to talk about money, all of the time,” he added. Asked whether it is a coincidence that Arsenal have failed to win a trophy since 2005 during a period of transfer-market austerity at the Emirates and if Wenger is jealous, the City boss said that all one needs to do is get good players in the team if a club wants to stay at the top. “I don’t know. What I do know is that we all need to buy players if we want to improve and stay at the top,” Mancini said. ANI
