London: Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes selecting left-back Patrice Evra for the FA Cup first round clash against rival Liverpool at Anfield won’t be a problem for him.
“It would not be a problem for me,” The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying after he was asked if he would pick Evra for their clash at Anfield.
Liverpool striker was banned from eight games after he racially abused United’s interim captain Evra in a match at Anfield this season, The Sun reports.
Ferguson has given the captain’s armband to Evra till the end of the season after club captain Nemanja Vidic was ruled out due to injury at least by the end of the season. “Rio would`ve been captain if he didn`t have that inconsistency because of injuries. One of your players who will be playing all the time should be at the forefront to be your captain and that was the case with Patrice,” he added.
Ferguson also praised Evra’s leadership skills. “They have marvelous qualities in terms of leadership, both of them. He`s a very popular player with a good personality and you have to have a good personality to be a captain of this club,” he added.
