Tiger Woods falls out of the lead at Australian Open

Sydney: Tiger Woods went from leading the Australian Open to trying to stay in contention.

Equipped with the outright lead for the first time in nearly a year, Woods began the third round Saturday at the Lakes with three straight bogeys in wind that wasn’t as strong as it had been the day before. He finally made a 7-foot birdie putt on the fourth, but had pars the rest of the front nine and went out in 38 and was three shots behind. Jason Day of Australia, who played with Woods the opening two rounds, rolled in a 40-foot birdie putt on the ninth. He was 3 under for the day and in the lead at 10-under par, one shot ahead of John Senden. This week is the two-year anniversary of Woods’ last win at the Australian Masters in Melbourne.
