The third largest telco by customer base Idea Cellular on Wednesday caught up with its larger rivals to enter the 4G space by announcing services in the five southern states, and also announced content tie-ups with digital companies to help increase the data usage under it.
The telecom service providers that participated in the marathon auctioning were: Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Reliance Communications, Reliance Jio, Tata Teleservices, Telenor and Aircel.
Idea Cellular has entered into an agreement with Videocon Telecommunications for acquiring the rights to use the latter's spectrum for the telecom service areas of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh (West) for Rs 3,310 crore through a spectrum trading agreement, a statement said here on Tuesday.
The country's third largest mobile operator also plans to introduce from next fiscal its branded digital services applications like Idea Music, Idea Games, Idea Movies and Idea Digital Wallets etc, with focus on regional and vernacular content.
