Death of CJM`s wife: Family appeals HC to suspend Garg

The family of Geetanjali, the wife of Gurgaon Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg, died under mysterious circumstances.

Chandigarh: The family of Geetanjali, the wife of Gurgaon Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg, who died under mysterious circumstances, has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court here seeking suspension of the CJM.
Geetanjali`s brother, Pradeep Aggarwal, submitted a representation in the office of Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul yesterday seeking suspension of Garg, who has been booked for murder in the case, from the post. In his representation, Aggarwal has alleged that the Gurgaon police were "mishandling" the case and did not record Garg`s statement immediately after Geetanjali was found dead. Aggarwal has further claimed that the police did not immediately conduct search at his residence for collecting evidence nor did they confiscate Garg`s mobile phone. Pleading that the CJM be immediately placed under suspension, Aggarwal mentioned that the family apprehends that there would be pressure on the police or any other investigating agency if Garg was not immediately suspended and thus proper and fair investigations would not be possible. Earlier, Geetanjali`s family had accused her in-laws of harassing her for dowry. The family had alleged that the harassment started from the birth of the couple`s first daughter and worsened after their second girl child was born. Geetanjali`s brother Pradeep and father Om Prakash, who live in Panchkula, near here, had also demanded a narco test on the CJM, saying the mystery behind her death needs to be revealed. 30-year-old Geetanjali was found dead on July 17 in high security Police Lines area in Gurgaon. A case of murder was registered against Garg on Saturday, three days after she was found dead. The post-mortem report has mentioned that one bullet hit her stomach while another bullet hit the chin and pierced through her head. A third bullet was also fired and had injured her neck. Police initially said it appeared to be a case of suicide, but her family members suspected foul play. Geetanjali got married to Garg in 2007 and they have two daughters aged around 4 and 3 years.
