Meeting participants will be able to use live translated captions if the meeting is organised by a user in beta or an eligible Google Workspace edition. Meeting participants can translate English meetings to French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. The feature can be particularly helpful for all-hands meetings or training meetings with globally distributed teams.
The new rule applies to calls with three or more participants for up to 60 minutes. Google Workspace individual subscribers can host one-on-one calls and group calls with three or more participants for up to 24 hours. Google last year announced that anyone with a Google account was allowed to create free meetings with up to 100 people with no time limit in the pandemic times.
A Google spokesperson told The Verge in an email, "We don`t have anything to communicate regarding changes to the promo and advanced features expiring. If this changes, we`ll be sure to let you know." The Verge reported that the deadline of September 30 is also applicable to other features like access to advanced features for G Suite and G Suite for Education customers, including allowing meetings of up to 250 participants, live-streams of up to 100,000 people within a single domain, and the ability to save meeting recordings to Google Drive.
