Sheena Bora murder case: Mikhail is my adopted son, says Indrani Mukerjea

Mumbai: In a new twist in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, Indrani Mukerjea reportedly said on Wednesday that Mikhail was her adopted son.

As per India Today news channel, Indrani supposedly told her lawyers, who met her this morning, that Mikhail was an adopted son.

As per news reports till now, Mikhail was said to be Indrani's son and Sheena her daughter.

In various interviews to the media till now, Mikhail has been referring to Indrani as his mother and never once hinted to the fact that there was an adoption angle to the whole saga.

Also, Sheena's biological father surfaced yesterday for the first time and sought death for her mother Indrani Mukerjea, wife of former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea, if she had murdered her.

Kolkata-based Siddharth Das, admitted he was Sheena and Mikhail's biological father though he had never married Indrani and and had said "she should be hanged" if she had committed the murder, as per PTI.

He had said Indrani left him in 1989 and they had not been in touch ever since. Das said he came to know about the murder through newspapers and was ready to cooperate in the investigation.

Das also said he was ready for a DNA test, if required, for confirming Sheena's parentage.

As for Mikhail, he had earlier told the police that Indrani had thrice attempted to kill him and also spiked his drink the day Sheena disappeared in April 2012.

On August 31, Indrani faced fresh charges of poisoning and attempting to murder Mikhail.

Meanwhile, Peter Mukerjea's statement was today recorded in the Sheena murder case by police.

Indrani is accused of killing Sheena with the help of her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai.

Peter, who has been married to Indrani Mukerjea for 13 years and set up a media company with her, had first said that he was unaware that Sheena was his wife's daughter and that Indrani had introduced her as her sister.

A few days after Indrani's arrest, Peter Mukerjea amended his version to say Sheena did inform him that she was his step-daughter, but he had no reasons not to believe his wife Indrani Mukerjea's denial of that claim though he found it "difficult to digest".

He claimed that the same thing was communicated to him by his son Rahul Mukerjea, but he had not believed him as well.

Sheena Bora was engaged to Rahul, Peter Mukerjea's son from an earlier marriage, when she was allegedly murdered on April 24, 2012.

The 24-year-old was allegedly strangled in a car, then her body was burnt and dumped at a forest in Raigad, about 84 km from Mumbai.

Her purported remains were found a month later and buried by the police, which treated the body as unclaimed.

For three years, Indrani Mukerjea told her family and friends that Sheena had shifted to the US.
