The victim, identified as 45-year-old Mohammad Hasan Molla, general secretary of the BNP in Hazratpur Union of Keraniganj, was shot on Thursday night. Confirming the attack, Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost, said that a BNP leader named Hasan Molla was brought to the hospital from the Keraniganj area with a gunshot injury.

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Joy Mohapatra, died on Friday morning while undergoing treatment at M A G Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet.

Shariatpur Superintendent of Police Rawnak Jahan reportedly stated that before his death, the victim Khokon Das mentioned the names of the accused.
